Set of 6 Wine Glasses – 0.2 L calibrated, green base

Pouty bowl, thick green stem with rings running all the way around, wide base: Anyone who has ever sat in a wine bar along the Rhine or in Franconia is familiar with this shape. Available here as a set of 6 with a 0.2-liter calibration mark.

✔ Set of 6 glasses – brand-new

✔ Calibrated to 0.2 L – suitable for the foodservice industry

✔ Green base with fluted stem

✔ Stable & sturdy – approx. 290 g per glass

Why is the base actually green?

Originally, the green color wasn’t a design choice but a byproduct: In medieval forest glassworks, glass was melted from local sand, and the iron content in the sand gave the resulting glass a greenish tint—hence the name “forest glass.” Later, the green color was deliberately retained: It made white wine appear warmer and masked minor cloudiness. A necessity became a stylistic feature.

The rings on the stem serve a purpose

In ancient Rome, people used to attach small glass dots to the stem so the glass would sit securely in the hand even with greasy fingers. The fluted stem takes up this motif: it provides a secure grip, is comfortable to hold—and prevents the warmth of the hand from transferring directly to the bowl. The wide base makes the glass exceptionally stable.

Calibrated—and therefore suitable for the foodservice industry

The glass holds 0.27 L to the top and is marked with a calibration line at 0.2 L. In Germany, anyone serving drinks commercially must use calibrated serving vessels—making it ready for immediate use in wine bars, clubhouses, or wine festivals. Ideal for Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, and wine spritzers.
